Responsibilities


The General Manager is head of all daily staffing and operations at UNSA, leading our offices and team members in the provision of all student services, activities and initiatives.

They act as a conduit between staff and the UNSA President, Board and SRC, assess staff training and performance, and forge connections at the highest level with both senior University figures and community stakeholders, all to ensure that we deliver services of the utmost quality to our students.

 

Jen Hanson


Howdy, I’m Jen! I’m a recent University of Newcastle alumna, originally from Iowa in the USA. Last year I finished my dual master’s degrees in business administration & marketing and began working as UNSA SRSO. Before moving here, I received my undergraduate degree in Business (marketing/leadership) from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. Go Hawks!

But don’t worry, I’m not all business! When I’m not at work I love to spend time in my garden growing chilis, in my kitchen shaking up a cocktail, or outside playing sports. Fun fact: during my first year in Australia, I broke my collarbone into 4 pieces playing AFL and had to have reconstructive surgery to put it back together with 10 titanium screws (I have since switched to playing Netball). I love watching any sport as well and am an avid NFL, NBA, and NCAA sports fan and STAUNCH Tom Brady h8r.

While studying, I served as a student rep on the UNSA Postgraduate Senate which sparked my interest in governance and student representation. As SRSM, I am passionate about amplifying the student voice and helping students build valuable skills in leadership, advocacy, governance, and professionalism.
