The Clubs Officer is the first point of contact for enquiries relating to student clubs at the University of Newcastle. They guide new clubs in their establishment and affiliation and assist in the administration and re-affiliation of existing clubs.
They provide assistance with club funding proposals, event approval and management, and support club executives in the general day-to-day operations of their club. They also help clubs to understand any required governance tasks and processes and run club-related events and activities (or activities in collaboration with a particular club) for the association.
Hello! I’m Ethan Andrews, a University of Newcastle alum and your Clubs Officer at UNSA. I graduated with a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Commerce in 2016 and since then have spent a lot of my time working in local government, moving between roles in the arts, events and tourism industries.
Whatever my title has been, I’ve invariably spent my time solving problems, working with diverse stakeholders and managing projects. These are skills that I honed while on the board of two student clubs (Exchange Student Network and Rugby League) and that I can use to help club executives run their clubs smoothly.
I care deeply about sustainability and am stoked to be working for a genuinely values-led organisation that feels the same way.
Off the clock, you’ll find me in my garden with my beloved chickens, throwing back long blacks and thinking about the Cronulla Sharks.
